We are thrilled to announce that Street 2 School has won a 2025 Propel Business Award.

Chosen from over 90 student–sponsor pairs, This recognition celebrates our commitment to expanding access to education for out-of-school children and youth.

A huge shoutout to Huba Mahmood for nominating us for this prestigious award. Your leadership, vision, and dedication to strengthening Street2School — from streamlining our registration to contributing to key grant projects — have played a crucial role in getting us here.

Special thanks also go to Leah Bortolin, Kelli Stevens, @haskayneschool and Dr. Michele Jacobsen for their continued mentorship and support, helping us grow our impact and leadership capacity.

The Propel Business Project demonstrates what’s possible when students and sponsors work together to shape commendable change in the workplace and expand opportunities for young people. We encourage more businesses, nonprofits, and social enterprises to apply and benefit from the innovative support and fresh ideas Propel brings.

“The 2025 #SDG4Scorecard highlights this urgent challenge.”

Globally, over 272 million children, adolescents, and youth remain out of school — a number even higher than previously estimated due to rising population growth and crises (UNESCO, 2025). Many of these children face barriers related to poverty, conflict, or limited local access to quality education.

At @street2school_ng, we are working directly to close this gap. By reaching vulnerable children who are excluded from formal schooling, we create safe learning spaces, provide basic literacy and numeracy, and empower families with the tools to break cycles of educational exclusion.

Every child in our program brings us closer to achieving SDG 4 – Quality Education for All, ensuring that “knowledge becomes power, information becomes liberation,” as Kofi Annan so powerfully reminded us.

Across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, there’s a huge need for quality education and solutions to meet this demand.

As we mark the International Day of Education today, Street2School believes all children deserve to be in school and is committed to providing access to more accessible, equitable, and inclusive education for all.
